2024 Holland Construction’s Safety Symposium

Murphy Company at Holland Construction’s Safety Symposium!

Our Vice President of Safety & Quality, Ricky Reams, participated as a panelist at Holland Construction’s Safety Symposium in May! At Murphy Company, we prioritize our employees’ safety and mental health, recognizing that mental well-being is essential for on-site safety. To support this, Murphy conducts on-site Toolbox Talks, addresses specific site risks and hazards, and develops strategies to enhance safety. We aim to ensure our team’s safety around the clock, not just during work hours, which is why we emphasize mental health as a key aspect of our safety initiatives.

During the symposium, Ricky joined industry experts from AGC of Missouri, AGC of Washington, Murphy Company, and Holland Construction in discussing mental health and its associated stigma. Even if your company doesn’t engage in large-scale Safety Symposiums, you can still make a difference by utilizing the resources linked below.

How to Take Action:
Recognize It: Be aware of the harmful effects of stigma.
Talk About It: Initiate open conversations about mental health.
Support Others: Offer to listen and help find support for those in need.
Get Help: Inform a supervisor if you experience or witness mistreatment.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP): https://afsp.org/
Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention: https://www.preventconstructionsuicide.com/

By taking these steps, we can all contribute to a safer and more supportive work environment!
