Murphy Company was contracted by DIRECTV to complete the utility build-out to the 15,000-square-foot data center at the DIRECTV Headquarters building in Englewood, Colorado. Our team led the design engineering and construction for the mechanical and electrical trades and completed the first phases of data center construction in 2008.
The equipment installed in the Data Center build-out included ten new CRAC units, eight new PDU’s, two new static switched, and 18 RDC’s. To support this equipment, the mechanical scope included a new air-cooled chiller, upsized pumps, and extended Liebert Sitescan controls. The base building controls systems were modified to accept the added scope. The electrical subcontractor scope included a new emergency generator, new power distribution units, static transfer switches, UPS’s, power wiring distribution, panel boards, and cable wiring.
