This was Murphy Company’s first project with Alkem Pharmaceuticals, an India-based company, which recently started new operations in the United States. Completed in the Fall of 2016, this project was bid and executed on an extremely tight timeline. Using our own BIM model, our team fabricated pipe and duct in our Fabrication Shop, including stainless steel process duct with flanged connections that had to be passivated for the airblown system.
We installed German-manufactured (Glatt) equipment on site, including a large Glatt fluid bed reactor. With few drawings ahead of time and many metric components, the fabrication and the process equipment installation required significant design-assist from our experienced engineers and project managers.
Murphy Company created a multidisciplinary team to meet the challenges of the aggressive schedule and unknown process equipment requirements, with few advance drawings available. This pharmaceutical project requiring a Clean Room environment was successfully executed within the 10-month timeline and Murphy has since performed multiple projects for Alkem.
Safety is a high priority at Murphy, which has an exemplary safety record in all its work environments. There were zero first aid and zero injuries on this project.
