Local 562 CHAMPIONS Initiative: Building Careers, Empowering Futures
We are thrilled to welcome three talented recent graduates from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 562 CHAMPIONS Initiative to the Murphy team. The CHAMPIONS Initiative equips participants with technical expertise and personal development skills, beginning with an intensive six-week training program. During this period, participants receive hands-on training in plumbing, pipefitting, and mechanical trades, along with essential skills such as financial literacy, communication, and teamwork—tools designed to help build long and successful careers.
After successfully completing the program, participants advance to pre-apprentice status and begin working with a participating contractor from the MCA and Plumbing Industry Council. As pre-apprentices, they receive ongoing mentorship, attend peer group meetings, earn hourly wages, and qualify for Local 562 benefits, including retirement savings and healthcare. After one year in the program, these participants are formally invited to continue their journey as skilled pipefitters or plumbers by entering the prestigious Local 562 Apprenticeship Program.
