Ameren – Rush Island Control Room Renovations

Murphy Company was contracted by Ameren to install a new chilled water CRAC unit on an elevated floor to create a low Plenum for air circulation to cool the 1,200-square-foot server room equipment. This unit was served by the facility’s chilled water loop. Security bars were installed in the ductwork, so unauthorized personnel could not enter the highly curated secured area.

Murphy Company was responsible for the insulation of the following:

  • Supplemental steel onto the main structure to support new dry coolers.
  • Installation of four new dry coolers on the eighth-floor roof structure.
  • Installation of four new AHUs on level five in the main structure.
  • Installation of four new pump skids on level five in the main structure.
  • Installation of new piping for dry coolers to new AHU.
  • Installation of new circuits and breakers for its new equipment
  • Insulate all new piping.
  • Pressure test all new piping.
  • Verify new equipment is operating per manufacture design.
