Murphy Company served as the general contractor for the replacement of aging fan coil units (FCUs) throughout an active healthcare facility. Our team installed new Johnson Controls 4-pipe FCUs with standalone controls in patient rooms and corridors across the building. The new equipment was sized to match the existing units, which were at end-of-life, allowing for a direct replacement with minimal disruption to the facility.
To meet strict schedule and budget constraints, we worked closely with hospital staff to coordinate room access based on patient census. Our team managed a fluid schedule, overseeing all subcontractors and work areas to maintain progress without impacting patient care. Our ability to adjust in real-time and communicate effectively ensured the project remained on schedule and within budget.
One of the main challenges was maintaining a steady workflow while ensuring room availability. Through proactive coordination and flexibility, our team ensured continuous progress even as room access changed daily. This responsiveness minimized downtime and maintained project momentum.
The project was completed with zero safety incidents, reflecting our strong safety culture and commitment to job site excellence.
