President and CEO, and avid soccer fan, Pat Murphy Jr. said, “We are thrilled to have been selected by the MAK team to be the mechanical and plumbing contractor for the landmark MLS Soccer Stadium in St. Louis.  As a contractor who thrives in projects that integrate our highly skilled plumbing, pipefitting, and sheet metal crafts under one roof, we will deliver excellent value, with all our community resources, to the MLS ownership team.”

Conrad Philipp, Vice President of Commercial Construction at Murphy Company, echoed Pat’s testament in an email to the team. “Our talented preconstruction group cannot wait to “kick-off” this historic project immediately. Our operations team consisting of Senior Project Manager Joel Maevers, and our experienced foremen Jason Branch, Dale Hirons, and Scott Kiely, will continue to drive this momentum once construction starts.  We are committed to meeting the challenge of the opening day schedule, while maintaining a healthy and safe jobsite.”

Murphy Company is no stranger to large sports venues.  The contractor had a hand in building the stadium for the St. Louis Rams back in the 90s.  In 2016, the contractor’s Denver crews completed the University of Colorado-Boulder’s Athletics Complex with Mortenson Construction, which consisted of creating new club seating, a football operations facility, and a Champion’s Center equipped with a ticket office, store, and support space, locker rooms, and training suites. The team also the adjacent new indoor practice facility and a parking garage.  The St. Louis contractor also was a vital player in the Enterprise Center Renovation project of 2017.  This project consisted of replacing the ice rink, suites, restrooms, and the locker room for the 2019 Stanley Cup Champions, the St. Louis Blues, and in time for the 2017 season.

Schedule is going to be crucial in this project as well. With an anticipated home-opener set for March 2022, Murphy’s team is anxious to get started on this historic project. As home grown St. Louisans and lifetime soccer fans, Pat Murphy Jr stated, “Laura and I, along with our entire Murphy Company family, look forward to proudly cheering on our home team with our children, and in the future, our grandchildren.”
