attended the 2019 AGC Construction Keystone Awards ceremony at the River City Casino Hotel. The Keystone Awards are given to construction firms who excel in their contributions to the built environment. The awards were presented to 10 contractors chosen from a group of nearly 30 finalist projects covering a broad spectrum of project types including health care, education facilities, living facilities, industrial facilities, and energy plants as well as commuter rail stations and systems. The AGC of Missouri presented Murphy Company with a coveted Keystone Award for Specialty / Subcontractor in Industrial Construction for its work on the Sioux Conveyor Tunnel Sump & NPDES Upgrades at the Ameren Sioux Energy Center in West Alton, MO.
Murphy’s work on the drainage and discharge system for the coal handling side of Ameren’s Sioux Energy Center involved working underground and at elevation during harsh winter weather – near river traffic and among other construction taking place on the site. The mechanical contractor was cited for successfully accommodating the plant’s operations schedule and Murphy’s value engineering as well as its exemplary safety record on the 14,000- hour job.
Murphy also was recognized as a Keystone finalist on two other projects that night. The company was recognized as a finalist in the Specialty / Subcontractor Building Construction Project of $4 million or more category for the McKelvey School of Engineering’s Jubel Hall & Utilities package at Washington University in St. Louis. Its Northern Colorado group also was a finalist in the in the National Class category for its work on the renovation and expansion of the United Airlines Flight Training Center in Denver, CO.
