MURPHY COMPANY WINS OVERALL SUBCONTRACTOR AT THE 2017 STAR AWARDS

DENVER – On October 11, 2017, Murphy Company joined a crowd of Denver subcontractors

at Mile High Station for Mortenson Construction’s 11th annual Star Awards. The event recognizes the efforts of Mortenson’s trade partners from the previous year, and honors the companies and individuals who made their jobs as general contractors successful. Maja Rosenquist, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mortenson’s Denver office stated, “Mortenson is proud to be building some of the most important and iconic projects in Colorado. We could not be where we are today without the efforts of our trade partners. It’s important for us to recognize their dedication and hard work by hosting this annual event.”

There were ten awards given, and Murphy Company won the award of the night: Overall Excellence/Overall Subcontractor for our work at United Airlines Flight Training Center.

We have been working in several areas of the Flight Training Center since January of 2016, and have potential to continue to work on projects there for years to come. Standing side-by-side with Mortenson, we have built an outstanding portfolio of work from the Woodward Campus in Fort Collins, Woodward Drake Renovation, and our current work at CoorsTek, Inc.

To accept the award, Murphy Company’s team attended the event and could not be happier with this gracious honor. Project Manager Tony Klitch said “It was truly an honor to be nominated for a 2017 Mortenson STAR Award in Overall Excellence as well as Safety. The selection of the Murphy Company as the recipient of the Overall Excellence Award is a recognition of the best in class business provided every day by our team on these projects. We sincerely appreciate working with Mortenson and look forward to continuing our relationship for years to come.”

Preconstruction Manager Doug Geist, who led our preconstruction and estimating team on this project added, “The strong relationship between Mortenson and Murphy has been built on a few common goals. We both strive to provide value to our clients, focus on a safe working environment and tackle any challenges with a collaborative approach. We appreciate Mortenson for recognizing the value that Murphy brings to a project and are committed to exceeding their expectations in the future.”

The award currently is on display at the Murphy trailer at United Airlines where the team can see that hard work does pay off and that their efforts are making a difference and are being recognized.
