BJC Healthcare – Core/Shell North & SLCH Expansion

Murphy Company was successful in procuring the shell and core mechanical system for the BJC North and South tower projects in mid-2015. The 558,000 square foot Parkview Tower and the 220,000 square-foot expansion of St. Louis Children’s Hospital was completed in early 2018. Our crews were instrumental in installing the mechanical systems that would feed these buildings and support the infrastructure of the tenant finishes. Our comprehensive approach to prefabrication included everything from risers to coil trim. This allowed us to meet the stringent requirements of the construction schedule.

Murphy Company’s scope included the installation and prefabrication of large bore piping risers, duct risers. Installation of three (3) 40,000 gallon fuel oil tanks with completely redundant set of pumps and controls, eight (8) double stacked AHUs totaling over 336,000 CFM of air, fan coil units, building exhaust fan system, vacuum pumps and air compressors along with core and shell distribution piping for medical gas systems.

Additionally Murphy was asked to provide a complete steam system including PRVs, distribution piping, and condensate pumps. Riser’s and racks were fabricated and stored well before they would be needed on site, which allowed us to provide just in time delivery. The key to our success was our aggressive approach to prefabrication and our innovative mechanical installation strategies.
