Abound Solar – Manufacturing Facility

Murphy Company was selected as a part of the design-build team to complete a new full-scale manufacturing facility for Abound Solar. The existing facility required extensive new mechanical infrastructure to support the manufacturing requirements. Extensive changes and additions to the underground plumbing system were made to accommodate the new process, health, and safety requirements. Large clean room spaces with redundant HVAC systems were installed to house considerable portions of the manufacturing floor. A mechanical mezzanine was installed for overhead delivery and convenient maintenance of critical systems. Spaces were designed and installed with specific pressure gradients that were maintained under tight tolerances while portions of the facility were occupied and in production.

Murphy Company designed and installed a new RO/DI water system as well as a large compressed air station. A new process chilled water plant was designed, fabricated, and installed in large mechanical skids to accommodate a compressed schedule and critical delivery dates of owner-furnished equipment. Murphy Company worked closely with the owner and design-build team to meet the requirements of this challenging and unique alternative energy project.
