Schnucks – Seven Hills

Murphy Company served as the refrigeration subcontractor on this project, with carpenters supporting pipe fitters while working directly for Schnucks Markets. The work included unloading and installing new refrigeration cases and walk-in coolers, along with behind-the-scenes system piping modifications needed to update refrigeration protocols.

Murphy Company and Atlas Builders drove the schedule and helped bring the project to completion about four weeks ahead of plan. Entire departments—including deli, seafood, prepared foods, and cheese—were fully remodeled without any shutdowns or loss of sales, a reflection of careful coordination and planning. A key technical challenge was maintaining adequate refrigeration capacity while systems were taken offline for remodeling. Murphy managed the schedule to ensure the store stayed operational throughout construction.

The project was completed without safety incidents or close calls, supported by excellent pipe fitter contributions from Local 439. While prefabrication was limited, sheet metal fabrication was used for trims and close-offs to support the carpentry work. Overall, the project was delivered safely, efficiently, and ahead of schedule.
